Chief Executive candidate Mrs. Regina Ip told a group of accountancy sector election committee members that the next administration must demonstrate willingness to work with different parties and invite the non-establishment parties to participate in governance, as long as they faithfully upheld national sovereignty, territorial integrity and the Basic Law.

By enabling these parties, she said, to influence policies through means other than using veto power, the government could transform them to the loyal opposition, which could collaborate with the government to solve various social problems and work for Hong Kong’s better future.

Mrs. Ip made the comments after the accountants voiced concern about Hong Kong’s governance. They believed the current administration was plagued by problems, such as deviations from standard procedures, unjust distribution of land and unfair systems. These, said the accountants, were at odds with Hong Kong people’s values and caused widespread discontent.

The EC members also clearly expressed their hope that the next CE could put together a team which would work differently from the current administration.
“I am glad to have met Ms. Mandy Tam and the other four Election Committee members from the accountancy sector. I would like to invite other members from the sector to have a frank and sincere dialogue with me.” Mrs. Ip said at the end of the meeting.

Mrs. Ip and her campaign team will continue to meet various parties and organizations to explain her policy platform and seek support.
